Interview with Ajay Sathe, APAC Connect 2026 Chair
Background and Personal Journey
How would your colleagues describe you in three words?
Passionate, meticulous and decisive.
What inspired you to take on the role of PHUSE Connect Chair?
It’s an honour to be a part of a historic event that will continue to grow.
How long have you been involved with PHUSE, and what does the Community mean to you personally and professionally?
Fourteen years and counting! The PHUSE Community has enhanced and enriched my professional career by opening doors to a global network of leaders and experts in our field.
What first sparked your interest in data science and the work you do today?
Ever since my MBA student days, I have been deeply interested in quantitative techniques such as optimisation and simulation. It was natural for me to be drawn to data science projects once I started working.
When you think back on your career journey, what moment or experience stands out?
When I was complimented by an SVP-led team of a prospect who would later become a client. They said: “Do you know why we liked your presentation? Because your technical knowledge shows and goes way beyond a sales pitch!"
I have always felt that the PHUSE Community’s superior technical knowledge is a great source of career progression.

Experience and Insights with PHUSE
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time volunteering with PHUSE?
Way back at an EU Connect in Brighton, UK, the PHUSE Board of Directors asked for a volunteer to bring the movement to Asia. My hand shot up. It is thrilling to see this initiative growing leaps and bounds!
What do you find most rewarding about bringing people together through PHUSE events?
Looking back, I can see that I have contributed to spirited young colleagues’ career growth. I take warm pride in that and applaud their professional development.
What do you think makes PHUSE Connect events unique in the industry?
PHUSE Connects deliver exceptional technical content and offer a pathway to new opportunities, knowledge and complementary skills.
What’s one skill or mindset that helps professionals get the most out of a PHUSE Connect event?
Communication, undoubtedly – whether as a presenter, an interacting audience, a workshop participant, or a casual conversationist. This is a critical soft skill that gets a boost at Connect events.
What advice would you give to someone attending their first PHUSE Connect?
Make acquaintances. Don’t hesitate to ask questions during presentations as well as breaks, or at the exhibitor booths. Address your curiosity.
