During the spring and summer months this year, we held five quality Single Day Events (SDEs) throughout the EMEA, Americas and APAC regions. Those 5 SDEs hosted 32 presentations across themes ranging from emerging technologies to end-to-end automation and welcomed 1000+ attendees from around the globe.
India Spring SDE – 20th March
Theme: Virtual Trials Design, Hybrid Trials & Digital Data Collection Methodologies (Mobile Technology, Wearables, ePRO, eCOA, etc.) – Challenges and Best Practices
Catch up: Watch on demand
Sponsored by: IQVIA
This SDE focused on answering the questions: Are virtual, hybrid trials sustainable? Is this the new normal? And are we ready?
Numerous attendees highlighted ‘DCTs: A New Way of Clinical Trials’ by Anand Pendse, Bayer, as a standout presentation because the information shared was from recent real-time challenges and the topic is the future!
EMEA Spring SDE – 4th May
Theme: Code Control to Major Tom
Catch up: Watch on demand
Sponsored by: Business & Decision Life Sciences, IQVIA, mainanalytics & OCS Life Sciences
Looking at contradicting requirements in daily coding business, such as the increase in complexity impacting flexibility, speed and training needs, this SDE discussed smart and sustainable solutions for managing these contradictions.
Delivered by Katja Glass, Katja Glass Consulting, ‘Continuous Integration for SAS Macros’ was recognised by attendees as an exceptionally insightful presentation.
Americas Spring SDE – 21st May
Theme: Enabling End-to-end Automation in Analysis and Reporting
Catch up: Watch on demand
Sponsored by: IQVIA
Presentations at this event highlighted the benefits of leveraging standards, metadata, programming and reporting tools to achieve end-to-end automation and, in turn, improving the efficiency of your trials.
This was a very popular theme, attracting a fantastic 90% of attendees, because of the content and topics covered!
India Summer SDE – 12th June
Theme: Evolving Techniques in the Design, Analysis and Reporting of Clinical Trials
Catch up: Watch on demand
Sponsored by: GSK & IQVIA
Considering the focus on being more efficient and effective within drug development, it’s not enough to only know one programming language. Many organisations are actively pursuing different programming languages in their day-to-day work, with R being a popular alternative.
R is a hot topic within the industry, so be sure to check out ‘How Not to Err with R’ by Anmol Gureja and Nandini Rajendhiran, Novartis, which is available on demand.
If you would like to learn even more about R, take a look at Why R? by Michael Rimler, GlaxoSmithKline, which is available on the PHUSE website. Michael’s blog takes a deep dive into why R uptake has been slower than expected at GSK, when programmers are given such a rich set of resources.
Americas Summer SDE – 12th August
Theme: Emerging Technologies and Clinical Data Engineering
Catch up: Watch on demand
Sponsored by: IQVIA
AI (artificial intelligence), ML (machine learning), serverless computing, quantum computing and no-SQL databases storing linked information are considered the top emerging technologies in 2021.
Attendees loved hearing about what Pfizer are doing in regard to their SCE Strategy – take a look at the Sigma overview from Chris Colangelo, Pfizer, entitled ‘Tipping the Scale: Moving from Scaling Experts to Balancing them with Novel Technologies’.
