DY Patil University School of Pharmacy, Navi Mumbai (December 2023)

The PHUSE India team conducted a visit to the DYPU School of Pharmacy on 5 December 2023. The purpose of the PHUSE Academia Meet is to provide pharmacy students with exposure to healthcare data science fields so they have a better understanding of clinical research practices in general and possible opportunities.

Sarvesh Singh, APAC Regional Director, delivered an awareness session to a group of undergraduate pharmacy students about pharma, clinical industry trends, job opportunities and how PHUSE India is supporting the industry and academia. This session was part of the learning process and helped fulfil the academic requirement of bridging the gap between classroom teaching and industry requirements and to get corporate exposure and professional experience. The students and faculty actively participated in the PHUSE Education discussion.

The sessions conducted were very educational and introduced the students to the industry and the outside market. The students benefitted from learning technical terms and knowledge of how the PHUSE Community works and collaborates with regulatory and industry partners. We discussed industry opportunities, which motivated the students to progress in their field.

The Q&A session was facilitated by the PHUSE delegation (Sarvesh Singh, PHUSE APAC Regional Director; Krishnendu Biswas, Novartis Director; Varsha Patil, Ephicacy Associate Director; Balaram Chauhan, Cognizant Senior Manager; Mamta Gawade, PHUSE APAC Blog Lead), and students asked questions and clarified their doubts regarding the topics discussed. Their excitement was evident after being introduced to the clinical research industry as a future career path.

The PHUSE team was thrilled to collaborate with DYPU School of Pharmacy, and the Academia Meet received robust support from the College faculty, including Principal Dr Rakesh Somani, Prof. Tanishaka Thakre, Prof. Pravin Naik, Prof. Pratip Chaskar, Prof. Harish Kundaikar and Prof. Vivek Mallurwar.

The event concluded successfully, on account of the tremendous support from the DYPU School of Pharmacy leadership, faculty and students. The PHUSE India team is grateful to DYPU Industry Advisory Council Member Suraj Bhansali, Principal Dr Rakesh Somani and Prof. Tanishaka Thakre for their support in organising such a successful PHUSE industry–academia meet event.
