Guru Nanak College | January 2025

PHUSE India successfully hosted a PHUSE Academia Meet at Guru Nanak College, Chennai, focused on the latest insights and career pathways to clinical data science in the pharmaceutical industry. The event was well attended by students and faculty eager to learn about the evolving landscape of clinical research, emerging technology trends and the career paths available in the pharmaceutical sector.

The session featured insightful discussions from esteemed industry professionals:

  • Santosh Karthikeyan Viswanathan, Global Technical Director, Clinical Data & Insights, AstraZeneca
  • Bharath Kumar Vijayakumar, Principal Programmer Analyst, Biostatistics & Programming, Thermo Fisher Scientific (PPD)

The event started with a lamp lighting ceremony, and industry experts set the stage with an overview of the PHUSE global community, followed by an introduction to clinical trials and their phases. They highlighted the importance of data-driven insights in the industry and discussed the opportunities in clinical research, including roles emerging with the evolution of AI and machine learning.

The session was interactive, with students showing great enthusiasm and asking questions on how to align their academic pursuits with industry needs. The speakers provided interview tips and valuable insights into how students can best prepare themselves for a successful career in this industry.

This event is part of PHUSE India’s broader initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering innovation and equipping the next generation of professionals with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
