Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology | August 2025

PHUSE India successfully hosted a PHUSE Academia Meet at Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, Chennai, focused on the latest insights and career pathways to clinical data science in the pharmaceutical industry. This meet was organised by the department of biotechnology.

The session featured insightful discussions from esteemed industry professionals:

  • Santosh Karthikeyan Viswanathan, Global Technical Director, Clinical Data & Insights, AstraZeneca
  • Jayapandian Nagamalaiyan, Statistical Programming Head, Sanofi

The event kicked off with a welcome note, and students from biotech, AI & ML and other departments participated in the session. Industry experts gave a comprehensive overview of PHUSE and initiatives from the global community. The students were inspired listening to the drug development life cycle and the application of AI in the biopharmaceutical industry.

They showed great enthusiasm, asking questions on how to align their academic pursuits with industry needs. The speakers provided interview tips and valuable insights into how students can best prepare themselves for a successful career in this industry. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, including a ceremony for the winners of the Hackathon event.

The Academia Meet is part of PHUSE India’s broader initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering innovation and equipping the next generation of professionals with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
