St. Xavier’s College | January 2025

On 11 January 2025, the PHUSE Academia Meet presented an insightful talk on career opportunities in the clinical trial industry at St. Xavier’s College. Over 70 second- and third-year undergraduate statistics students and four statistics department professors attended the session.

Purvi Karla, an expert in the field, shared her valuable experiences and knowledge with the students. Her presentation highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals in clinical trials, especially those with a strong foundation in statistics. She emphasised the crucial role of statistical analysis in clinical trials, ranging from data interpretation to regulatory submissions.

Purvi guided the students through roles such as biostatistician and statistical programmer. She also shared practical tips for building a successful career in this field, including the importance of staying updated with industry trends and developing essential soft skills.

Rahul Pandya created awareness about PHUSE Global and its dedication to advancing the data science community in the healthcare industry. He encouraged students enthusiastic about contributing to healthcare-focused data science to leverage the resources made available by PHUSE to stay relevant in the field.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the Q&A segment and seeking guidance on pursuing careers as biostatisticians or statistical programmers in the healthcare industry.

The professors at St. Xavier’s College expressed their appreciation for the PHUSE India Academia Meet initiative and pledged their support for similar engagements in the future.
