Top 5 Tips for Networking Virtually

Virtual events have exploded as an industry necessity this year. With face-to-face restrictions still in place, it is important to make the most of your virtual event attendance and network effectively.

Use PHUSE’s top tips below to make some new, meaningful connections at our virtual events.

1 – Publicise your attendance

Attending a virtual PHUSE event? Make it known! Be sure to get yourself out there and share that you are attending by promoting on your social media – we recommend LinkedIn for this.

Bonus tip: Whilst you are on LinkedIn, follow the PHUSE page to see what others are saying and keep an eye out for our event-related content. We often share attendees’ posts, so here you will be able to connect directly with those who have an interest in your industry.

2 – Download the PHUSE App

Pre-event, attendees can familiarise themselves with all our PHUSE App has to offer (available on iOS and Android) so you can use its features during the event. Exclusive to the App, under the ‘People’ section, is an attendee list. Here, you can start conversations with fellow attendees and message them directly. Identify those you would particularly like to network with using the bookmark feature, where you can view all of your personal bookmarks in one place.

3 – Engage, engage, engage!

There is nothing more beneficial to networking than engagement. By engaging, you can organically open up conversations and connect with other attendees. During the event, post your thoughts and comments on the App activity stream and be sure to participate in our Q&A sessions by submitting your questions on the ON24 platform.

4 – Attend our social events

The PHUSE Connects host several evening socials.

At the EU Connect in 2020, we hosted a music quiz night on Tuesday, a live music night on Monday, as well as topic-based Zoom rooms on Sunday, there is something for everyone!

5 – Follow-up post-event

Don’t complete your networking as soon as the event is over. Did you talk to someone during the event? Connect with them on LinkedIn. Did you enjoy a particular presentation? Find the presenter on the ‘People’ section of the App and message them directly. Better yet, post a review of your key highlights and takeaways on your social platforms and be sure to tag the relevant people.
